/Motorcycles PR News/ - MINNEAPOLIS, MN, May 02, 2007 - "Re-Cycle the 60's" is the theme for the National Meet of the Viking Chapter, Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Inc. to be held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds June 15-16. (Press passes and a guided tour of the bikes on display are available to verified media personnel.)

"This is the biggest event for antique motorcycle enthusiasts in 2007," said Viking board member Sean O'Neil. "We are going to have over 120 bikes on display, covering models from all around the world and all across the twentieth century. This will be the largest display of antique bikes ever seen in Minnesota . There will be old favorites such as Knuckle-Heads, Indian Chiefs, and Triumphs. And lots of rare bikes that most people have never seen, like NSUs, Excelsiors, and Vincents. There are a lot of bikers out there that don't know much about antique bikes except what they saw in The World's Fastest Indian, but are very curious to learn more."

The feature attraction will be the return of the Wall of Death to the Fairgrounds. Some visitors may remember the 1927 Indian Scout being raced around a great wooden barrel from visiting the State Fair years ago. Whether 80 years ago or today, performing stunts while riding on a vertical wooden wall is the MUST SEE of the summer. This unique piece of American motorcycling history will have seven shows daily on Friday and Saturday.

"We're really excited about our new location," said O'Neil. "We've held this meet down at Farmington for over thirty years, but needed a larger venue. At the State Fairgrounds, we're going to have plenty of outdoor space for vending and camping and a huge building for indoor displays. The Fairgrounds is located near hotels and restaurants for our out-of-town guests, and can be easily reached from any of the Twin Cities neighborhoods."

The "Re-cycle the 60's" theme borrows from the "Back to the 50's" idea taken from the Hot Rod crowd but puts a new twist by moving things up a decade. The 60's was a transitional period for antique motorcycles where insurgent brands from Britain and Italy challenged classic American makes. With the beginning of the rise of hot bikes from Japan, the 60's is the perfect period to celebrate bikes from around the world.

There will be indoor and outdoor swap meets. The 100 bike display is indoors with the other exhibits. If an event visitor has a bike to sell, they are welcome to bring it to the meet and park it in the Bike Corral for only $10. The seller retains complete responsibility for their bike and their sale.

On-site camping is available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for AMCA members. Tent sites are available as well as vehicle camping (van, RV, truck, etc.). Twenty amp electricity is available for a fee.
